The Express Entry (EE) program is designed to allow people to apply for permanent residence in Canada as a skilled immigrant. It is considered to be one of the fastest ways to immigrate to Canada.

  • What are the different immigration programs under Express Entry?

To apply for Permanent Residence under Express Entry Program, you must qualify into one of the following categories:

  • Skilled Worker Program

Designed for people who immigrate to Canada on the basis of their foreign work experience, language ability and education.

  • Skilled Trades Program

Designed for people who immigrate to Canada on the basis of having work experience in the skilled trades.

  • Canadian Experience Class

Designed for people who immigrate to Canada on the basis of their Canadian work experience.

  • Provincial Nomination Program

Designed for people who immigrate to Canada on the basis of the nomination they receive from a Canadian province or territory in which they plan to settle.

  • How is an application selected for an invitation to apply for Permanent Residence under the Express Entry?

Candidates are required to create a profile and submit it into a pool that contains applications of all Express Entry candidates. Each application is evaluated and awarded points for different qualifications such as the candidate’s educational, professional and personal details. Candidates whose application scores points above the cut off score of the Express Entry draws are sent an ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Permanent Residence.

 

  • What is the processing time?

Each application is unique and takes different time to be processed under the Express Entry program. The typical processing time is 6 months.
