- What is a work permit?
Work permit is a document that is issued to foreign nationals to enable them to legally work in Canada. There are two different types of work permits that you can apply for, based on the nature of your employment.
- Open Work Permit
With an open work permit you are allowed to work for any eligible employer in Canada.
- Employer specific Work Permit
With an Employer specific Work Permit, also known as Closed Work Permit, you are allowed to work in Canada only for the employer whose name is mentioned on your work permit, and only for as long as you are employed with them.
