A single-entry visitor visa is valid up to a period of 6 months. A multiple entry visitor visa is valid up to 10 years or up to the expiry of the passport, whichever comes first. On a multiple-entry visa a person can stay up to 6 months per visit, unless specifically limited by an Immigration officer.
